What the market bar shows
The market bar and Spot Prices page show cached gold, silver, platinum, and palladium spot prices in U.S. dollars per troy ounce. Each quote includes the current spot value and the provider's change from the previous market close.
- An up or down arrow and an explicit sign identify movement without relying only on color.
- A flat quote displays no movement.
- The market bar moves automatically only when all four quotes do not fit. Hovering or focusing returns it to its initial position; dragging settles on a complete quote. It remains manually scrollable and does not move automatically when reduced motion is preferred.
- The detailed page identifies the source and the time represented by the oldest quote in the displayed set.
Prices may be delayed
Mintiax refreshes market data on a configured server schedule rather than contacting the market provider for every page view. If a refresh fails, the last successful set can remain visible and is identified as delayed after the configured staleness threshold.
If Mintiax has no complete successful set of four quotes, the header bar is hidden. Mintiax never substitutes zero-dollar or unavailable placeholders for market prices.
Market data does not set collectible prices
Spot prices are informational and do not automatically change a Mintiax catalog price. A collectible's price can reflect rarity, condition, certification, provenance, availability, and other factors in addition to any metal content.
A displayed spot price is not an offer by Mintiax to buy or sell metal or a promise that a product is available at that price.
